The two core categories of the li-yu（理欲）perspective are tianli（天理，Heavenly Principle）and renyu
（人欲，human desires）.The prominence of the discourse on tianli and renyu reflects the profound philosophical inquiries
of ancient Chinese thinkers and constitutes a pivotal conceptual pair in the history of Chinese philosophy.During the
Southern Song dynasty ， when Neo-Confucianism flourished ， debates over tianli and renyu reached unprecedented
intensity.Within Wang Yangming’s（王阳明）School of Mind，the philosophical tension between tianli and renyu stands
as a central tenet of his intellectual system. In an era marked by rapid societal change，material excess，and existential
anxiety，there is an urgent need to seek remedies from traditional Chinese culture.Wang Yangming’s core doctrine of
“preserving tianli and eliminating renyu”（存天理，去人欲）offers both theoretical value and practical significance
as a path to spiritual liberation.
