Clinical Effect Analysis of Early Skin-to-Skin Contact Nursing in Neonatal Care

Objective:To explore the clinical effect of early skin-to-skin contact(ESSC)nursing in neonatal care. Methods:A total of 60 premature infants(gestational age <34 weeks)admitted to the NICU of a primary hospital from January 2023 to June 2024 were enrolled and randomly divided into the ESSC group(30 cases)and the control group(30 cases). The control group received conventional incubator care, while the ESSC group started ESSC(2 times/d,30 min each time)within 24 hours after birth, lasting until discharge. The weight gain rate, body temperature stability, successful breastfeeding rate, and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results:The weight gain rate in the ESSC group was(18.6±2.3)g/(kg·d),significantly higher than(14.2±1.8)g/(kg·d)in the control group(P<0.01). The body temperature fluctuation range was(0.5±0.2)°C,lower than(1.2±0.3)°C in the control group(P<0.01). The successful breastfeeding rate was 76.7%, higher than 43.3% in the control group(P<0.01). The length of hospital stay was(56.3±7.5)days,shorter than(68.5±9.2)days in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion:ESSC nursing can significantly improve the nutritional status, body temperature regulation, and breastfeeding outcome of premature infants, with simple operation and high feasibility for promotion in primary NICUs.
